1st Amendment
States all citizens have the right to free speech, press, petition, assembly, and religion. These are the freedoms that this amendment will protect.
2nd Amendment
States that people have a right to bare arms. People have the rights to have and weapon to protect themselves.
3rd Amendment
States that people don't have to allow soldiers in their home. Soldiers cannot take or live in their home.
4th Amendment
States that government cannot search through your home or your property. The government cannot take a persons property.
5th Amendment
States that the government must follow the 5 rights of accused criminals. These rights are a grand jury hearing, no double jeopardy, and no self-incrimination. Must have due-process and your property cant be taken.
6th Amendment
States that a person has the right to a speedy and public trial, right to know charges, and the right to an importal jury. The right to hear and question witnesses against you and right to an attorney to assist in defense.
7th Amendment
States that a person has the right to a jury trial for civil cases. After the jury decides the facts a judge cannot over turn that decision.
8th Amendment
States that the government cannot demand excessive bail or fines before the trial. Or any cruel and unusual punishment after the trial.
9th Amendment
States that people have all other rights even if they are not listed in the constitution. The Constitution does not include all of the rights of the people and the states.
10th Amendment
States that the powers not given to the federal government, or prohibited by the constitution. Are the powers of the states or the people.
